Ruse

Nestled in Northern Bulgaria along the Danube River is Bulgaria’s fifth largest city, Ruse. With a population of around 135,000, Ruse, often called “Little Vienna” because of its distinct architecture, was once the center of the Bulgarian National Revival and is known as “the city of first” because of the many innovations originating in this riverside city. Alongside the first of many innovations is the first and only reformed and covenantal church in all of Northern Bulgaria. And with a city that bears the spirit of revival, many Bulgarians who have lived abroad are returning to Ruse to be a part of restoring its glory. Amidst the hope of a renaissance in a declining population and economy, the greatest need is for eternal hope and new life in Christ.
